Abbey House is an early 19th century house located in Romsey. The project comprised of the demolition of an existing building with the exception of the north facade and the construction of a new Convent providing accommodation for the Sisters of the Daughters of Wisdom.
The development involved the construction of a new three storey building consisting of 13 self-contained flats with personal bathrooms, kitchens and living rooms. In addition to the flats a relaxation room, lounges, chapel, laundry, conservatory, large commercial kitchen and a number of multi-use guestrooms were also constructed.
Underfloor heating is installed throughout and fresh air ventilation is provided by ceiling mounted heat recovery units. The installation of a building management system which allows for full zonal control for comfort and economy. A complete intelligent lighting system has been installed. Small power, data, TV aerial system, telephone system, fire detection and a nurse call/disabled alarm system have been installed.
