Broadlands Estate in Hampshire comprises 5,000 acres and dates back to the 11th century. Broadlands House is the former home of Lord Mountbatten and is currently home of Lord and Lady Brabourne. It is a Grade I listed Palladian Mansion comprising of 60 rooms and has recently been the subject of major renovation, including the replacement of all heating and domestic services and the construction of a new external boiler house.
The project comprised of the supply and installation of biomass boilers, delivering a sustainable solution utilising wood chip produced as a by-product of the estate's waste wood. The removal of all existing plant and distribution pipework, the construction of a new plantroom and the installation of new services comprising some 4,000 metres of copper pipe, utilising crimp jointing techniques to avoid hot works. Additionally, all new bespoke cast iron radiators were installed throughout the house, along with a state of the art control system utilising wireless technology including the installation of a full building management system which allows for full zonal control for comfort and economy.
