This project was a major redevelopment of this iconic 1960’s Grade II listed building and will provide a completely updated facility which will help this important venue to maintain its standing in the national and international arts world. Completely new mechanical and electrical services installations were provided and carefully integrated into this complex structure. The works comprised of heating and cooling systems serving back of house and the existing auditorium, displacement ventilation and general heat recovery systems.
The integrated building management system provides an interface to the theatre control to allow special modes of operation in the auditorium ventilation system. The electrical services comprise of general low voltage power and lighting, fire alarm and emergency lighting, data, security, access control and intruder alarm systems, CCTV and lightning protection. We also integrated with and provided specialist elements of the new Theatre services, including stage lighting wiring and DMX control wiring.
Specialist commissioning included load testing and simulation techniques with attendance and support provided through the first productions of the 2014 summer festival.
