A new Visitors Centre for the Crown Estate, encompassing a restaurant and shop facility. The building was provided with CO2 and temperature controlled ventilation system, air conditioning, LTHW underfloor heating serving the restaurant and shop, domestic services, small power, fire alarm systems, data network and a lighting control system.
Detailed co-ordination of the mechanical and electrical services was required to suit the architectural features of this landmark building. The building itself has an intricate handmade roof, which when viewed from the air reflects a leaf laid on the ground. The centre was opened by Her Majesty the Queen and was a finalist for RIBA building of the year.
